Christian Historical Romance | Late 1890s | Texas

A delightful historical romance with memorable characters, small-town charm, and a fascinating quilting connection!

When Delia Truitt’s family’s fortune disappears, their comfortable life comes to an abrupt end. Forced to relocate to Blooming Grove, Texas, Delia is determined to use her seamstress skills to help support her family and establish a new life. But attracting the attention of Clarence Parker creates an unexpected complication. The banker’s daughter, who also happens to be the mayor’s daughter, isn’t about to let Delia steal the spotlight.

Teresa Wells brings the late 1890s to life with an engaging story that combines romance, family relationships, and small-town rivalries. One of my favorite touches is the way she incorporates the history of crazy quilts into the story. It adds an interesting historical dimension that I particularly enjoyed.

The supporting cast is another highlight. I found myself enjoying the secondary characters almost as much as Delia and Clarence, especially Eleanor Baskin. Memorable supporting characters always add something special to a story!

And there’s more to look forward to. Delia’s brother, Rabb, is the hero of the next book, and I’m already looking forward to his adventure.

My recommendation: If you enjoy Christian historical romance with engaging characters, a touch of small-town drama, and interesting historical details, give What Brings Us Joy a place on your reading list.
